Ahhh summer! The days are long, the weather is warm… and the kids are out of school. My brain wants to be in vacation mode, but instead it’s getting a handle on all the ways our routine has changed.
Summer camp drop-offs, activity schedules, and family vacation planning mean we’re barely following the same playbook we had two months ago. But while the routine looks a little different these days, one thing stays the same: keeping me and my kiddos fueled with plenty of snack ideas we all love.
So today, I’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite healthy summer snacks. These snacks are all easy to make (some use just one ingredient!) but are clean and free from processed ingredients.
That means you can get them together with very little effort without having to resort to the prepared foods section of the freezer aisle. Talk about snacks you can feel good about!
If you’ve ever stressed last-minute about what to pack in a lunch box or what to grab when you’re on the go, save this list for later. It’s especially helpful if you suffer from “what should I eat?” food decision fatigue.
10 Easy and Delicious Summer Snacks
- Frozen Grapes – These are a classic for a reason. They’re super easy to make (just pop washed grapes in the freezer), have the taste and texture of a popsicle, and they’re nutritious to boot!
- Tropical Chia Popsicles – This is just one of a few homemade popsicle recipes in the Conscious Cleanse library, but it’s one of my favorites for a reason: chia seeds. The healthy fats, fiber, and protein in chia seeds means these popsicles will help keep your energy levels stable. And for kiddos, the added fiber is always a huge win.
- Frozen Chocolate Nut Butter Banana Coins – Basically frozen bonbons, but without the processed ingredients. Here’s how you make them: slice some bananas into ½ inch coins, top them with a dollop of nut butter (cashew is great in these!), sandwich it with another coin, and dip the whole thing in melted dark chocolate. Then chuck them in the freezer on a baking tray and leave them for 1-2 hours.
- Watermelon “Pizza” – This snack doubles as a fun group cooking activity! Slice up a watermelon into triangles, then top them with coconut yogurt (I like Cocoyo), berries (fresh or frozen), and toppings (think: shredded coconut, cacao nibs, or chopped nuts).
- *Mango Bubble Drink – If you or your kids love boba, try this Mango Bubble Drink. It’s a low-sugar spin on the sugar-packed drink, without skimping on the classic gushy, chewy texture. And it has plenty of fiber and a boost of protein to keep hungry bellies satisfied.
- Fruit Skewers – Grab your favorite summer fruits and make them into fun skewers. These babies can be frozen or eaten right away. They’re great for after-activity snacks or served up as a dessert or appetizer at a barbecue.
- Spinach Artichoke Dip & Fresh Veggies – This is just one tasty dip option, but feel free to swap in your favorite! Veggies and dip is such a low-effort snack, and it always hits the spot. No ovens, no dishes, no stress, just a savory snack with plenty of crunch.
- Vegan Chocolate Chip Ice Cream – Ice cream is the perfect summer treat, and this healthier version really scratches that itch. The next time you’re craving ice cream or your kids ask for some, try making this version. It’s just as good as the store-bought stuff.
- *No Bake Cherry Pie Energy Bites – These bites are easy to make and transport, full of fiber, and taste just like a cherry dessert. And what’s more summery than stone fruit?
- Chia Pudding “Cups” – This one is great for summer camp lunches or boring work days that need a fun treat. And it’s simple to make: start with our simple chia pudding recipe, add 1-2 tablespoons of raw cacao (optional), and blend it well in a high speed blender. Pour it in a small glass container, chill it in the fridge overnight so it’s ready to pack the next morning, and enjoy!
I hope these snacks bring some ease into your crazy summer days! Give them a try and let us know which ones are your (or your kids’) favorites.
