Confessions of a Conscious Cleanser

IMG_1728Welcome to our second edition of Confessions of a Conscious Cleanser.

We’re so excited to share with you today’s “Confession,” because it’s a story that many of us can relate to.

Tara Powers is a mother of two sweet young girls. She’s a working mom – and a successful entrepreneur at that, and someone who opens up today about eating foods that she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt are sabotaging her health. The problem is she finds herself eating those foods anyway.

That’s the funny thing about food. It’s never just about the food! Some foods are downright addictive. Can you say sugar? While others we eat mindlessly or simply out of habit.

Most of us know what we need to do to improve our health, but taking action and implementing what we know is another story.

And that’s why having the loving support of a community of likeminded cleansers and a team of experts to guide you can be so profound!

Check out Tara’s story below and learn more about the amazing benefits of cleansing the body.

With love and honest confessions,

Q&A with Tara Powers

What inspired you to try the Conscious Cleanse for the first time?

  • I “heart” green smoothies. It was a natural fit.
  • I’ve been plagued by stomach pains and/or blotchy skin for far too long.
  • I heard I would lose weight and look amazing.
  • My Vitamix was collecting dust.
  • I wanted to find my Vibrancy!
  • My significant other made me do it.
  • Fill in the blank: I wanted to find out what foods I was sensitive to and let go of the foods my body didn’t really want but I was eating anyway.

What were you most looking forward to and/or dreading about embarking on the two-week program?

I was most looking forward to a clear head and happy mood, which I experienced by day 3. It’s really unbelievable how much food and mood are related. And there wasn’t anything I was dreading. I really wanted this for myself.

What surprised you most about the Conscious Cleanse?

How much energy and peacefulness I felt. I started remembering my dreams too, and they were filled with emotional situations from my past. I think I was cleaning out some old emotions that were being held in my cells – stuff that I still needed to work through. It really was amazing to release some of that emotional baggage and I feel lighter because of it.

Did you have an a-ha moment that you want to share?

This was my third time doing the cleanse and I confirmed that sugar is the devil for me. It really takes me down as a mother, wife and business owner. I need to rid it from my life and this third time it really hit home and became glaringly obvious.

Be honest, on Day 11 did you stand in front of your mirror naked per Jo and Jules’ instructions?! Do you remember how you felt on that day?

Sorry I didn’t do this. However, my skin and my clothes feel great!

Do you have a favorite piece of advice from Jo and Jules?

If you screw up, just get back on track. Don’t beat yourself up.

What does it mean to you to live the 80/20?

80% of the time live clean and eat clean. 20% of the time you can splurge. Funny thing is, the more I live clean, the less I want to splurge because it feels so fantastic! Yay!

What advice would you give to a first-time Conscious Cleanser?

Even if you commit to this for one week you will see dramatic results. It really just shows you how much food affects you in every way possible. If you care about your health, your mind, aging, energy, being vibrant for your family or kids…you have to try this. It’s really very easy once you get the hang of it, and I plan on doing it now at least twice per year and maybe one day I’ll do it 4x per year! Just do it!
