Happy pumpkin season! If you’re a pumpkin spice latte fan, you’ll love my new recipe: a Pumpkin Spice Collagen Latte.
I love upleveling fall recipes like this one with extra health benefits, and as I get closer to 50, bone density is top of mind for me.
Women can lose 10-20% of their bone density during perimenopause and after menopause. One way to stay on top of your bone health is adding collagen peptides into your routine. Recent studies show that regularly taking collagen peptides can help preserve bone density and even prevent osteoporosis! Just make sure you take your collagen with vitamin D and calcium for the best results.
I don’t love the taste of collagen, so blending it into a drink I enjoy is my favorite way to take it. This Pumpkin Spice Collagen Latte hits the spot for fall, while helping me protect my bones.
I usually skip the black tea, but adding it brings more depth of flavor and turns your daily coffee into a lower-caffeine treat. Black tea has about half the caffeine of coffee so you get a boost without the jitters or crash. It’s also full of polyphenols that support your heart, immune system, gut microbiome, blood sugar, and brain. If you don’t want tea in your latte, just double the milk in the recipe and heat it up before blending (this also makes it more kiddo-friendly).
Pumpkin brings benefits of its own; it’s rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, magnesium, potassium, and has about 7 grams of fiber per cup. Blending it with collagen and creamy non-dairy milk gives you fiber, amino acids, and healthy fats all in one cup.
If you want to make this latte extra festive, top it with some coconut whipped cream and a cinnamon stick. You’ll find our coconut whipped cream recipe, along with the brands we love most for this latte, linked in the recipe below.
Give it a try, and be sure to let me know what you think in the comments!
