Allergy Busting Green Smoothie

Ahhhh Spring! The blooms and trees are beginning to bud, and the grass is popping up through the snow… it’s such a thing of beauty. But it’s also a time that many allergy sufferers struggle.

I’ve battled seasonal allergies my whole life, so I know this pain all too well. My discomfort drove me to seek out natural allergy remedies that didn’t require popping over-the-counter allergy meds day in, day out. Over the years I’ve found natural and effective ways to tackle my running nose, brain fog, fatigue and headaches that come with those tricky seasonal allergies.

The best place to start is to support the body’s detox pathways. If the body isn’t burdened by extra toxins, it has more energy to cope with the things nature throws its way — like the pollen that gives you that persistent stuffy nose.

Today I’m sharing a tasty green smoothie that’s loaded with so many of my favorite natural allergy remedies. First, this drink features our Detox Tea from The Tea Spot. This tea is all about nourishing your body’s detoxification process. One important ingredient in this blend, and in turn this smoothie, is sage. Sage helps soothe your body’s inflammatory response and cleanses the kidneys.

Three other notable ingredients in this recipe are apple, bee pollen, and lemon. These all contain quercetin, which is a type of flavonoid found in plants that is known for its potent antioxidant activity. It can help tackle symptoms like sneezing and sinus congestion from hay fever, thanks to its ability to stabilize cells, which release histamine and other inflammatory signals.

One ripe apple can contain around 50 mg of quercetin!

Bee pollen is most effective when obtained from local bee farms. The next time you’re at your local health food store check where the pollen comes. You can also get it straight from the source by finding a local beekeeper.

So drink up and get outside! Enjoy all the new life blossoming around you this spring (sniffle free!).

With love and easy breathing,

Allergy Busting Green Smoothie
