Creamy Cherry Smoothie

There have been a lot of sniffles, sneezes, and coughs going around already this year and it has us thinking about what we can do today to fortify our immune system for the impending cold and flu season!

If we look to nature, we find that cherries are the last cleansing food before the fall harvest. Cherries cleanse and detoxify the lymphatic system and 80% of the immune system is in the lymphatic system (in the digestive system).

So what does this mean? It means the last days of summer are the perfect time to boost your immune system in preparation for the long winter ahead.

So go to your local farmer’s market and get some cherries and try one of our favorite, go-to smoothies. Can’t find fresh cherries? Not to worry! Costco carries frozen organic cherries, which would work great here too.

Creamy Cherry Smoothie

Yield: 1 quart


  • 1 medium banana or pear
  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • 1-2 TB. chia seeds
  • 1 TB. spirulina
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup fresh almond milk
  • 1 cup water
  • Stevia to taste

In a high-speed blender, combine banana (or pear), cherries, soaked chia seeds, spirulina, spinach, almond milk, water, and stevia and blend until creamy.
